Northrop High School Students Help Area Hungry
(January 21, 2010) Northrop High School students are teaming up with local artists to create an evening of delicious soup, art and entertainment to help Community Harvest Food Bank feed hungry people. In its second year, Faces of Hunger ~ Bowls of Change offers a night of music and a student art exhibit. Soup will be served in a handmade bowl which ticket holders will keep. Back by popular demand, additional handmade bowls may also be purchased for $5 each. Specially designed T-shirts for the event will be on sale for $10 and the highlight of the evening will be a silent auction offering a large array of artwork donated by area artists. Those attending are encouraged to bring in canned food items for donation and change to deposit into hunger home banks made by Northrop High School advanced ceramic students.
Last year the event raised over $5,000 and a massive amount of food for Community Harvest. Organizers hope this year will be even more successful. Donations of artwork for the auction and handmade bowls are still being accepted along with corporate sponsorships. Call contact Northrop High School for more information 467-2300.
