This year, the critically acclaimed Metropolitan Opera HD Live broadcasts are available in Fort Wayne.
I’m not sure if they were available in Fort Wayne last year as I don’t remember checking.  The series kicked off on October 10th with a broadcast of the new production of Tosca.  There’s a repeat coming up on Wednesday the 28th.  Included this season is Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra with Plácido Domingo as Boccanegra, to be performed on February 6th 2010.
Yes, I know he’s a tenor, but he’s taking on this baritone role.  He’s often said that this was a role he wanted to do at the end of his career.  What a career he’s had.  I don’t know if this is his last season singing at the Met, but you won’t want to miss this legendary tenor’s performance.  Forty-one years singing at the met, 50 years singing opera.  I’ve been privileged to hear him live many times, including his 30th anniversary celebration at the Met (which was 30 years to the night of his rushed, early debut) and his 60th birthday celebration.  I’ve also heard him live in Chicago and Washington DC.  A true legend.
Anyway, the location here in Fort Wayne is the Regal Coldwater Crossing Stadium 14. The schedule may be downloaded here, while tickets may be purchased here.
