Press release from the American Red Cross:
Indiana University Alumni Association to Hold 13th Annual IU Blood Donor Challenge
The 13th annual “Indiana University Blood Donor Challenge” will take place across the state and throughout the nation from now until Nov. 13, 2009.
The Indiana University Alumni Association has challenged Indiana University fans throughout the U.S. and Indiana to partner with them to reach their goal of collecting 5,000 pints of blood during this seven week long event. “The Red Cross is pleased to once again partner with the IU Alumni Association in helping save lives,” said Sharyn Whitman, CEO for the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross. “We encourage regional IU campuses, alumni chapters and community groups to join us in collecting blood for patients in need.”
Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood. In our area alone, 500 pints of blood are needed every day to meet patient need.
