Departures is the story of an out-of-work cellist who answers a classified ad entitled
“Departures.”  Thinking it’s for a travel agency, the cellist soon learns that the job is for
a “Nokanshi” or “encoffineer” – one who prepares bodies for burial and entry into the
next life.  A profound, sometimes comical look at the wonder, joy and meaning of life.
