Sen. David Long: Budget Committee to consider funds for construction of Fort Wayne campus parking garage
Formal approval for funding construction of a four-level parking garage on the campus of Indiana University Purdue University – Fort Wayne will be considered this week by the State Budget Committee, according to State Sen. David Long (R-Fort Wayne).
Approval of the $16.8 million project during Friday’s meeting in West Lafayette would be welcome news to more than just students, according to Long.
“This garage would not only serve students and faculty, but also provide convenience for guests visiting the Rhinehart Music Center, Williams Theater, Gates Sports Center, the Medical Education facility as well as other campus buildings,” Long said.
If approved, the garage would be built on the north side of campus and provide spaces for approximately 1,000 vehicles. According to school officials, bonds will be paid from parking revenue.
16.8 to park?? We the taxpayers keep pouring money into Upper Education and where is our Return on Investment? These schools just keep putting their hands out for any old thing and we the taxpayers keep filling them up.
The schools IPFW?IvyTech have a special City-Link to lower parking congestion and to save money and yet we still need 16.8 million toaprk?
