If the weather stinks in Florida and stays good in Fort Wayne, we should get another look at Space Shuttle Discovery and the International Space Station tonight.
Discovery is scheduled to land in Florida at 7:05 p.m. Thursday evening. There is another landing opportunity at 8:42 p.m. There is rain in the forecast for the Kennedy Space Center tonight, so there is a good chance Discovery will stay in space another day.
If that happens, Discovery will pass over Fort Wayne at 8:29 p.m. Look for a bright, rapidly moving object that rises from the west/southwest, climbs to a point 67 degrees above the horizon and then flies northeast before disappearing at 8:32 p.m.
The International Space Station, from which Discovery undocked on Tuesday, will follow the same path through the Fort Wayne sky two minutes later, peaking at a point 64 degrees above the horizon at 8:32 p.m. The station will be much brighter than the shuttle, but both will be easy to spot.

[…] Flight controllers continue to closely watch the weather, which is considered very dynamic. Currently, we are observed and forecast NO GO for the first landing opportunity at Kennedy Space Center’s Shuttle Landing Facility tonight.
