Press release from the TinCaps:
TinCaps Kids Day, July 29th to Feature Special American Flag, Police and Fire Departments
American Flag flown over Capitol Building to fly at Parkview Field. Special displays by Fort Wayne Fire and Police Departments.
Children from area day camps and day cares will be making their way to Parkview Field on Wednesday, July 29th for the TinCaps 11:05am Kids Day game. Department vehicles and safety information will be available from the Fort Wayne Police and Fire Departments to promote child safety. The Fire Department’s mascot, SADAR will also be in attendance.
Also, as a special presentation, representatives from Senator Richard Lugar’s office will be at the ballpark promoting the Veteran’s History Project. The Senator’s office will also be participating in a pre-game ceremony, which includes the flying of an American Flag that was displayed over the United States Capitol in honor of the men and women that serve our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The group Hoosiers Helping Heroes, will also be at Parkview Field during the game collecting new or used baseballs, footballs, soccer balls, baseball gloves, frisbees, and other sports equipment to deliver to troops overseas. The donation of sports equipment to Hoosiers Helping Heroes goes a long way in bringing a piece of home, and providing recreation activities, to the soldiers protecting our freedom overseas.
