A community health forum for all

When: Tomorrow–Wednesday, June 24, at 6:00 PM

Where: St. Mary’s Church across from Matthew 25

What: A community forum with a showing of “Sick Around the World,” a feature film by Public Broadcasting Service, narrated and produced by award-winning journalist T.R. Reid.

Purpose: To promote awareness on health care access and advocacy to seek the goal of universal health care for all.

Other: Snacks and beverages will be available

Moderators: Dr. Tom Hayhurst and Eve Bratton, RN, NP

Mini-Profiles:

Dr. Tom Hayhurst is a Pulmonary/Internal Medicine specialist, public health physician, health care advocate, former Fort Wayne City Councilman, and member of Veterans for Better HealthCare. Dr. Hayhurst received his degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington and is Vietnam veteran, having served as a doctor in the United States Air Force.

Eve Bratton is a registered nurse and nurse practitioner. She is the former head nurse at Matthew 25 and A.S.K. ministries and a co-founder of Clinica Madre de Dios at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Harrison Street.

T.R. Reid is an American foreign correspondent for The Washington Post and author of nine books, currently working on a tenth entitled, “The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper and Fairer Health Care.” He is also a frequent guest on NPR’s Morning Edition. Reid, a Classics major at Princeton University also served as Navy officer, taught and held various positions before working for the Post.
