There is a press conference scheduled the morning with local and state officials concerning Swine Flu. Â At this point, I’m planning on attending and will bring you full coverage. Â In the meantime, here’s a Fort Wayne-Allen County Health Department press release:
Hotline setup for Allen County Residents with questions about Swine Flu
The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health has activated a public hotline for callers who have questions or concerns about swine flu.
Starting today, the public can call (260) 449-7506 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to speak to a representative of the Health Department.
People who may be calling to report symptoms of influenza, however, should instead call their family physician or health care provider for further instructions.
“Just as with seasonal flu, Allen County residents should take appropriate, precautionary measures to prevent acquiring or transmitting this illness,” says Allen County Health Commissioner Dr. Deborah McMahan. “Stay at home if you are sick or have a fever. Cover your mouth or nose when coughing or sneezing. Wash your hands with soap and water frequently and thoroughly, especially after coughing or sneezing.”
For updates on the Influenza A (H1N1)-North American/Human flu investigation, the Indiana State Department of Health and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security have created a Twitter profile.
