Press release from the TinCaps:

“WOW!” TinCaps Welcome 6,000+ to Parkview Field Open House

The Fort Wayne TinCaps opened Parkview Field to the public for the first time on Saturday, April 4th and an estimated crowd of over 6,000 people took advantage of the opportunity during the six hour event.

“We’ve had the opportunity to tell people about Parkview Field over the past year, but there’s nothing like being able to show people first hand,” said Mike Nutter, TinCaps Team President. “This was the first chance for people to see in-person what they have been shown on TV, online or heard about on the radio. We were proud to finally be able to show the ballpark off.” When asked what the most common fan response was, Nutter replied, “I think the comment I heard most today was, ‘Wow! I didn’t know it was going to be this nice.'”

People attending the open house had the opportunity to not only walk the concourse, go up to TreeTops Rooftop, but they also could take guided tours through the suite level and check out the TinCaps locker rooms.

Fans had the opportunity to look through Parkview Field’s team store, The Orchard. “We opened at 10:00am this morning and were packed the entire time,” said Karen Schieber, TinCaps Merchandise Manager. “I’m not sure how much we sold today, but I know it’s going to take me a while to restock hats, shirts, sweatshirts – pretty much everything!”

Future game tickets were also available for purchase during the event. “We had the ticket windows open and sales were steady all day,” said Patrick Ventura, Director of Ticketing. “The best part about today was that we could walk people down to a section, they could pick their location, and then sit right down and check out the view.” A number of full, half and mini season ticket packages were sold during the day as well. “We still have season ticket locations available, not as many as this morning, but there are still good seats if people are interested.” While Opening Day, April 16th, is sold out, tickets are still available for the remaining dates of Opening Weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Call the TinCaps at (260) 482-6400 or log on to TinCaps.com for more information.

The TinCaps will welcome the team to town next week with a “Meet the TinCaps” event planned for Wednesday, April 8th. More details coming on Monday, but the event will take place in the early evening.
