The newly created Northeast Indiana Passenger Rail Association held a press conference Tuesday to announce a Rally for Rail to be held on April 3, 2009. Â The rally will be held at the Baker Street Train Station and will feature prominent speakers. Â State and federal officials from the region have been invited to attend the rally.
This is not so much about building a new high speed rail system as it is about utilizing existing rail lines after upgrading them to run at Amtrak speeds. Â The possible corridor would run between Lima, Ohio, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Chicago Illinois.

It would be a gamble to have the referendum vote – 50/50 chance of it being defeated. I do believe, however, if it comes before the community, it will probably be defeated. That’s my prediction and I’m sticking to it.
