Ben Lanka, in today’s Journal Gazette, reports that Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels does not support a referendum vote on the gambling issue in Fort Wayne.  He states he is not in favor of gambling expansion in any form in Indiana and that a referendum, “… doesn’t seem like a very fruitful pursuit to me.”  The article further states that Sen. David Long, R-Fort Wayne, also opposes the expansion of gambling, however, “It’s up to the people of Fort Wayne if they want it.”  He goes on to say he would not support a referendum vote at a cost to taxpayers.  The cost of a referendum vote has been estimated to cost approximately $400,000.
