The Fort Wayne City Council voted 5-3 in favor of holding the Fairmount Place vacation request indefinitely. Â
Councilman Tim Pape focused the debate on the real issue. Â If neighborhoods, city employees and citizens in general are spending time and money to develop comprehensive planning guidelines, what are they worth if we do not follow them? Â There were also concerns over notification of property owners to the west of the Charis House property. Â Plan Staff felt they did not need to be given a chance to weigh in on the vacation request while several council members felt they did. Â This means the development plans will probably not be making an appearance before the Plan Commission next Monday.
More details later…
I guess they are going ahead to the Plan Commission –
How does this happen? If their plan to vacation was not approved, then their plan does not officially exist.
My understanding is that the Plan Commission’s approval, if they vote approval, would be contingent on the vacation request being approved.
