The annual set up of the Headwaters Park Ice Rink has begun. Â The Zamboni shed has been built and work has begun on the sandbox. Â A huge sandbox is constructed. Â This involves first covering the fountain that runs down the middle of the plaza with heavy metal plates to protect it from the weight of the ice, skaters and Zamboni. Â From there, a wooden frame is built which is approximately 120′ x 60′. Â This is then filled with sand and leveled. Â The next step will be to unroll the huge coils of tubing which circulate the coolant. Â I will be posting photo updates and commentary as the set-up proceeds.
