On August 26th 2008, a presentation of a new technology developed right here in Fort Wayne was made to the Fort Wayne City Council. Â Dave Gross, President and CEO of his company (Collision Control Communications, Inc.) was accompanied by Indiana State Senator Tom Wyss. It is software and hardware that helps emergency responders avoid collisions with each other and helps their vehicles through intersections by turning lights to Green if they’re not that already. From their website:
The Eliminator™ is a cost effective, state of the art emergency vehicle traffic signal preemption and collision avoidance system. It contains two major sub-systems: The emergency vehicle sub-system and the traffic signal sub-system. It can dramatically reduce collisions involving emergency vehicles at signalized and non-signalized intersections.

This was a presentation only. Â City Council took no formal vote or made any endorsements or promises regarding the product. Â It was felt that because of the importance and potential for savings that the presentation should be made. Â
