Fort Wayne Police Department incident report:

Date: March 10, 2025

Location: the intersection of Lafayette Street and Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Time: 2010 hours

Details/Summary:

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a car versus a pedestrian crash just north of the intersection of S. Lafayette St. and S. Anthony Blvd on March 10, 2025, just after 8:00 pm. Officers arrived locating the crash in the northbound lanes of S. Lafayette St near S. Anthony Blvd and began to provide medical care to the pedestrian. Fort Wayne Fire Department and TRAA medics arrived to provide a higher level of care. First responders performed CPR on the pedestrian at the scene prior to the pedestrian being transported to a local hospital. The pedestrian succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing the northbound lanes of S. Lafayette St. while the car was proceeding through the intersection on a solid green light displayed on the automatic traffic signal. The driver of the car stopped and provided medical aid to the pedestrian prior to police arrival. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash for the driver of the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by the FWPD FACT team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
