News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, Freeman Street
(January 23, 2016) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) responded to a reported house fire in the 2100 block of Freeman Street at 1:43 p.m. today. First arriving crews found smoke and flames throughout both floors of the structure and immediately took a defensive posture. After achieving a knock-down of the flames from the exterior, crews transitioned to an aggressive interior attack.
There were no reports of occupants inside, and none were found. The structure fire took 44 minutes to get under control due to extensive involvement. Two firefighters received minor injuries on scene which did not require medical transport. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
