AED Donation Presentation to Allen County Sheriff’s Department
Monday, October 5, 2015 – 6:00pm at the ONE Complex – 5050 N. Clinton St.

(September 28, 2015) – On the afternoon of April 25th, 2015, Allen County resident Alexander Nehls was jogging near the intersection of Baswin Cove and Baldwin Pass in St. Joe Township. Allen County Resident Gregory Thomas was across the street when he observed Mr. Nehls collapse in the grass along the road. Mr. Thomas ran to the aid of Mr. Nehls and immediately began administering CPR. ACPD Officer Eric Foster was the first officer on the scene and retrieved his AED from his police vehicle. After applying the pads to Mr. Nehls’ chest, Officer Foster delivered a total of three shocks, the last one being administered as medics were loading Mr. Nehls into the ambulance. Mr. Nehls was rushed to Parkview Regional Medical Center where he was immediately admitted into the Intensive Care Unit.

There can be little doubt that if not for the quick actions of Gregory Thomas and Officer Eric Foster, Mr. Nehls would not have survived.

Mr. Nehls, is a physician’s assistant at OrthoNortheast (ONE). ONE has initiated a fundraiser to purchase two AED’s to donate. One will go to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the second will be donated to the Leo-Grabill Sports Complex. ONE will be presenting one to the Sheriff’s Department at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5th. We would like to invite the media to attend this presentation at the ONE Complex located at 5050 N. Clinton Street.
