News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
Structure fire at 5135 Oliver Street
(March 9, 2015) – Fire crews arrived to a reported house fire to find fire blowing from the windows at the rear of the house. Fire crews made an interior attack with hose lines clearing the house to make sure all were out of the house. One cat was found inside and removed and given oxygen. The cat was returned to the family within a few minutes of being taken out of the house. The fire remains under investigation.
The fire department was assisted by FWPD, TRAA, NCE, NIPSCO, AEP, Animal control, and the Red cross.
The fire was under control in 8 minutes from the arrival of the first crew.
