News release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:
Commissioners Issue Statement on Location of Emergency Communications Center
(December 21, 2012) — The Allen County Board of Commissioners today issued the following statement with regard to a new location for the joint emergency communications center:
We have received a letter from the president of the Consolidated Communications Partnership formally requesting that the sixth floor of the Rousseau Centre be designated as the new site for a joint emergency communications center. The commissioners are fundamentally in agreement with this recommendation.
Though our original offer was to modify the existing dispatch center in the Rousseau Centre basement, we now believe the possibility of a regionalized communications center would require more space than the basement allows. We agree with the CCP that the sixth floor provides the best platform to accomplish this among all the alternatives that have been investigated.
While there are still some issues that need to be addressed, we feel confident that we will be able to work through these matters to meet the goal of having the new system operational in 2013.
