Youth Center Holiday Events<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is offering several FREE family events at Weisser Youth Center (802 Eckart Street) to celebrate the festive season. Complimentary food will be provided.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Friday, December 11<\/strong>: African Scholar Anthony T. Browder, 6 pm – 8 pm.
\nBrowder, who is the founder and director of the Institute of Karmic Guidance and provides African centered tours of Egypt and Washington, D.C., will speak and present a dynamic slide show.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, December 22<\/strong>: Neighborhood Programs Holiday Dinner, 3:30 pm – 5 pm.
\nThis meal features holiday favorites such as ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and various cakes and pies.<\/p>\n

Monday, December 28 & Tuesday, December 29<\/strong>: Neighborhood Programs Kwanzaa Celebration, 3:30p – 4:30 pm. Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community and culture and these evenings provide an opportunity to showcase the seven principles of the African culture: Umoja (unity); Kujichagulia (self-determination); Ujima (collective work and responsibility); Ujamaa (cooperative economics); Nia (purpose); Kuumba (creativity); and Imani (faith).<\/p>\n

Wednesday, December 30<\/strong>, Neighborhood Programs Community Celebration, 6 pm – 8 pm. Kweku Akan, SBA Academy Founder, will speak and dinner will be served.<\/p>\n

Thursday, December 31<\/strong>, Neighborhood Programs Community Celebration, 6 pm – 8 pm. A variety of performers will entertain guests during the meal.<\/p>\n

Holiday operating hours at Jennings, Cooper and Weisser Youth Centers:<\/p>\n

December 21 – December 23: 12 noon – 5 pm
\nDecember 24 and December 25: CLOSED
\nDecember 28 and December 29: 12 noon – 5 pm
