Dozens more vaccinated for H1N1 today; No more public clinics scheduled this week<\/strong><\/p>\n

About 70 people have been vaccinated for the H1N1 flu so far today at Carew Medical Park. The clinic will be open until 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health received more H1N1 vaccine today and will continue to make it available to healthcare providers and at its public vaccination clinic at Carew Medical Park.<\/p>\n

On Friday, a special clinic will be held at Carew for volunteers assisting the health department and for other healthcare workers. This clinic is not for the general public and is by invitation only.<\/p>\n

An announcement about public clinic hours for next week will be made on Friday.<\/p>\n

For now, the H1N1 injectable vaccine offered at Carew is being reserved for pregnant women, caregivers of children less than 6 months, and children six months through 18 years of age.<\/p>\n

The H1N1 nasal spray vaccine will also be available for healthy children and young adults (2 years – 24 years) and for people who live with or provide care to infants less than six months of age.<\/p>\n

More than 8,800 people have been vaccinated for H1N1 flu since the clinic opened on Oct. 9. The vaccine is free. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.<\/p>\n

Anyone experiencing symptoms of influenza should stay home and contact a health care provider. People can also limit the spread of flu by covering their cough and washing their hands.<\/p>\n
