Fort Wayne Children\u2019s Zoo Welcomes Back Guests Starting July 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(June 29, 2020) \u2013 The Fort Wayne Children\u2019s Zoo is excited to announce the Zoo\u2019s opening to the general public on Saturday, July 4. July hours at the Zoo will be Noon to 7 pm daily.<\/p>\n

\u201cZoo Members have enjoyed the past few weeks and starting Saturday, July 4th, we will open for the general public,\u201d said Executive Director, Jim Anderson. \u201cThe Zoo looks beautiful, our staff, volunteers and Zoo animals can\u2019t wait for the community to come back to the Zoo.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Zoo has developed a plan in accordance with the Governor\u2019s Back on Track Indiana to reopen its gates, helping guests enjoy the Zoo and have a safe visit. The Zoo\u2019s plan includes asking all guests to stay at home if you or anyone in your party feel sick, follow 6-foot social distancing guidelines, and suggest wearing face coverings during Zoo visit.<\/p>\n

Visitors who are 65 years of age or older, or individuals who are medically vulnerable to COVID-19 should ensure they take measures to be safe and not subject themselves to the risks this virus could pose.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are asking all guests visiting the Zoo to help us,\u201d said Director of Operations, Dan Sheehan. \u201cWe are suggesting that guests wear face coverings, stay 6 feet from the guests in front of you, wash your hands often, use the hand sanitizer placed throughout the Zoo, and be patient with one another as you may find longer lines throughout the Zoo at the rides, food areas, giraffe feeding or viewing windows.\u201d<\/p>\n

2020 has presented the Zoo with unprecedented financial challenges and we are projecting a $5 million revenue loss this summer. Support from our members and community has been vital during this time.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne Zoo Members will have exclusive access to the Zoo from July 4-July 31 between 9:00-11:30 a.m. daily with a free timed ticket, available at www.kidszoo.org<\/a>. Members can also visit from 12:00-7:00 p.m. with no timed ticket necessary.<\/p>\n

About the Fort Wayne Children\u2019s Zoo<\/strong>
\nThe Fort Wayne Children\u2019s Zoo is northeast Indiana\u2019s largest tourist attraction, hosting more than 600,000 guests annually. The zoo was voted Indiana\u2019s #1 \u201cGotta-Do Summer Attraction\u201d and is consistently named one of the nation\u2019s Top Ten Zoos for Kids by national media outlets.<\/p>\n

The Zoo is a conservation leader, contributing annually to local, regional, and international efforts to protect wild animals and habitats. The Zoo cares for more than 1400 animals and participates in 63 cooperative species survival plans.<\/p>\n

As a self-supporting facility, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo receives no tax dollars for operations. The zoo\u2019s operations are funded entirely by earned revenue and donations.<\/p>\n

The Zoo is open for the 2020 season from 9 a.m. \u2013 7 p.m. daily, with the gates closing at 8 p.m.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
