More than 900 people get H1N1 vaccine today; Carew clinic closed until further notice<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health will likely be out of H1N1 vaccine by the end of the day and the clinic will be closed until further notice.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The health department anticipates receiving more vaccine later this week and will make any announcements about clinic dates at that time. People should stay tuned to local media and visit www.FightTheFlu.org<\/a> for updates.<\/p>\n

Some of the H1N1 vaccine received so far has been reserved for local healthcare providers to vaccinate their staff and high risk patients and some has been given out at the Carew clinic to those in the high priority groups. Those people include children six months to 18 years of age, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and caregivers of infants less than six months of age.<\/p>\n

More than 6,100 people have been vaccinated for H1N1 flu since the clinic opened on Oct. 9. Parkview Health is providing space for the clinic at Carew Medical Park, a three-story building located at 1818 Carew Street.<\/p>\n

Anyone experiencing symptoms of influenza should stay home and contact a health care provider. People can also stop the spread of flu by covering their cough and washing their hands.<\/p>\n
