Lanes to nowhere&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you haven&#8217;t been out to the Fort Wayne Children&#8217;s Zoo in the last four months, you&#8217;ve not seen the recently completed new bridge just South of the Franke Park Drive and Sherman Boulevard intersection.\u00c2\u00a0 Asphalt pavement has now been laid and lane markings painted.\u00c2\u00a0 On both sides of the street through this area are highly visible bike lanes.\u00c2\u00a0 One problem, the lanes do not extend beyond the recently renovated area.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, on one of the sides, the bike lane ends in the gravel berm, with no where to go.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a title=\"New bike lanes, part of the new bridge on Sherman Boulevard, near the Fort Wayne Children&#039;s Zoo.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/t54130.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a title=\"New bike lanes, part of the new bridge on src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/t54137.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This project was completed by the County and while I truly believe bike lanes are a good thing, I just can&#8217;t see the logic here.\u00c2\u00a0 Perhaps bike lanes are a new feature of any new construction projects the county completes.\u00c2\u00a0 But the question to ask:\u00c2\u00a0is a more dangerous situation created by having these lanes, even for a short distance?\u00c2\u00a0 Encouraging people to traverse this area&#8217;s narrow, high volume
