FWACC Looking for Help After Puppy Found in Garbage<\/strong>

\n(March 28, 2017) – Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is looking for the public’s help on a case after a five month old puppy was found in the back of a garbage truck.
\nFWACC received a call Thursday, February 22 from the garbage truck driver after they had finished their route and heard a puppy crying in the back of their truck around the 2900 block of Reed Street. Animal Control Officers responded to the scene and noticed the puppy, named Pearl by our staff, seemed to be injured. The puppy was not wearing an ID tag and was not microchipped.
\nAfter Pearl was examined at the shelter, she was then sent to Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital for x-rays. She suffered injuries to her face and head and will make a full recovery.
\nOur officers immediately launched a full investigation to find the person or people responsible for throwing Pearl into the trash. Officers have canvassed the area along the driver’s route to locate where Pearl was picked up in attempts to identify the responsible party\/parties.
\nWe are asking the public to call our department at 427-1244 or 449-3000 after 8 p.m. and on weekends with any information that may bring justice for Pearl.
