Fatal Shooting<\/strong><\/p>\n

Date<\/strong>: Wednesday, October 26, 2016<\/p>\n

Time<\/strong>: 6:54 pm<\/p>\n

Location<\/strong>: 800 block of Eckart Street<\/p>\n

Victim<\/strong>: Male \/ Deceased <\/p>\n

Details<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 06:47 PM, the Fort Wayne Police Department received reports of gunshots being heard in the area of 700 Eckart Street. As officers responded and began checking the area, they were notified by a witness at 6:54 pm that there was a male down in the center of Weisser Park, the 800 block of Eckart Street. Officers located the male, who was unconscious, and began CPR. Officers then noticed that the male was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male was then determined to be in critical condition, and was later pronounced deceased by medics. <\/p>\n

At this time, the age of the male is unknown and will be determined at a later time. There is no information as to what led up to the shooting, as investigators have not located anyone who witnessed the actual shooting. Thus, there is no suspect or motive information available. Detectives are currently searching the area trying to find any witnesses, and crime scene technicians are processing the scene for evidence. <\/p>\n

Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has any information is asked to contact police. <\/p>\n

The identity of the deceased, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. <\/p>\n

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Allen County Coroner’s Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
