Journalist Ann Curry Keynotes 2017 Tapestry: A Day for You<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(September 30, 2016) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Award-winning journalist and photojournalist Ann Curry, a former NBC News Network anchor and international correspondent, will be the keynote speaker for the 2017 Tapestry: A Day for You event presented by Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) and Parkview Health. The 16th annual Tapestry event will be held Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are $75 for open seating and $800 for a reserved table of ten.<\/p>\n

Ann has won seven national news Emmys and numerous Edward R. Murrow Awards, Gracie Allen Awards, and National Headliner Awards, as well as the NAACP Excellence in Reporting Award and the Women in Communications Matrix award. Ann has also been given numerous humanitarian awards from Refugees International, Americares, and Save the Children, as well as recognition from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, which awarded her a Medal of Valor for her dedication to reporting about genocide.<\/p>\n

Curry has covered the wars in Syria, Darfur, Congo, the Central African Republic, Serbia, Lebanon, Israel, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and reported on nuclear tensions from North Korea and Iran. She has also reported humanitarian disasters, including the tsunamis in Japan and Southeast Asia, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, where her appeal via Twitter (@AnnCurry) is credited for helping to speed the arrival of humanitarian planes. She is also the force behind groundbreaking prime time hours on climate change, poverty in America, and Iran.<\/p>\n
