Fort Wayne Police Department to Host National Police Dog Workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(June 17, 2016) – Many of America’s finest police officers and K-9 police dogs will visit Fort Wayne for the 2016 North American Police Work Dog Association National Workshop from June 19-25 at several locations across the city.<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the full-week workshop will consist of utility training sessions, tactical classes, and specialty field work in phases of narcotics, explosives, cadaver and accelerants. Attendees will have the opportunity to become certified as a K-9 police dog handler by participating in instructional classes from master trainers.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, June 23, the public is invited to attend a public demonstration at Northrop High School at 7:00 p.m. The demonstration is free to attend.<\/p>\n

Over 150 police officers and 100 police dogs will be in Fort Wayne for the workshop, and will generate an estimated $200,000 in economic impact.<\/p>\n
