(May 21, 2016) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Playing in front of one of the largest crowds ever at Parkview Field, the TinCaps scored four unanswered runs down the stretch to topple the West Michigan Whitecaps, 7-3, on Saturday night at Parkview Field.<\/p>\n

The TinCaps (22-20) leveled the four-game series with the Whitecaps (21-18) at a game apiece in front of a crowd of 8,137\u00e2\u20ac\u201dthe 19th-largest in ballpark history and the second-largest ever in the month of May\u00e2\u20ac\u201don a gorgeous evening with temperatures in the 70s.<\/p>\n

With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, TinCaps third baseman Carlos Belen rocketed a two-run home run over the left-field seats. The home run traveled 440 feet and left the bat with an exit velocity of 113 MPH. Belen said it was the second-farthest home run he’s ever hit\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbehind a long ball he clubbed in 2013 in the Dominican Summer League.<\/p>\n

Belen had started the scoring in the bottom of the first with an RBI single to left field to plate Ruddy Giron. Belen then scored on an RBI base knock from Michael Gettys to lift Fort Wayne in front, 2-0.<\/p>\n

Gettys then broke a 2-2 tie in the third with another run-scoring hit to left to reel in Peter Van Gansen.<\/p>\n

After Whitecaps shortstop Leo Laffita socked a solo shot in the top of the seventh to knot the game at 3-3, Belen jolted the massive crowd to life with his missile to left.<\/p>\n

In the eighth, manager Anthony Contreras dialed up a suicide squeeze, as Van Gansen dropped down a bunt to score Ty France, who had bolted for the plate, and extend the lead to 6-3. The TinCaps added another insurance run on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne starter Thomas Dorminy allowed just two runs over six innings in his first start of the season with the TinCaps. Dorminy, who was a Midwest League All-Star in 2015, joined the squad earlier in the week from Advanced-A Lake Elsinore.<\/p>\n

Right-hander Nick Monroe (W, 2-1) allowed a run over two frames, and Phil Maton worked a scoreless ninth.<\/p>\n

Whitecaps righty Jon Maciel (L, 2-2) allowed a pair of runs in 1.2 innings.<\/p>\n
