Money Smart Week Fair Tuesday<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(April 22, 2016) – Money Smart Week partners are offering a free Money Smart Fair on Tuesday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Downtown Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza. The fair will start at 10:00 a.m. with financial stability education sessions. Sessions will include how to buy a home, decreasing debt, and much more.<\/p>\n

“The information and resources provided during Money Smart Week are something we can all benefit from and are a great asset to our community,” said Vickie Hadley, chair of Allen County’s Money Smart Week and the Health and Human Science Extension educator of the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service. “By attending the fair individuals can learn about reducing debt and saving for college with having easy access to exhibitors that can help them open a savings account or sign up for Medicare.”<\/p>\n

“Money Smart Week is an amazing resource for our Allen County residents,” said David Nicole, president and CEO of United Way of Allen County. “Currently 35 percent of Allen County families are financially unstable. This week provides tools for our families to make changes and move towards the stability they need and the life they want.”<\/p>\n

Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign to promote financial education across all age groups. Launched in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the program is now active in more than 45 states through national partnerships with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Cooperative Extension and the American Library Association.<\/p>\n

Money Smart Week events are open to the public at businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, nonprofits and government agencies throughout the country on topics including kids and money, unemployment, managing student debt and retirement.
