YWCA Northeast Indiana Breaks Ground on New Facility!<\/strong><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
(March 24, 2016) – As part of YWCA Northeast Indiana’s Campaign for Dignity, YWCA Northeast Indiana broke ground on their new facility on the Southeast side of Fort Wayne which will house its Domestic Violence Crisis Shelter, Hope House Division, Community and Education Programs, as well as administrative offices.<\/p>\n
This $3.6 million project will result in YWCA Northeast Indiana’s ability to serve even more families in crisis in Northeast Indiana. Our Crisis Shelter will increase from 45 to 65 beds, and provide family pods for privacy and security. Our Hope House division will be able to serve more chemically dependent homeless women by increasing the number of beds from 20 to 30. A new conference room will allow for English as a Second Language and Citizenship classes to continue to thrive, as well as a place for the community to gather in support of YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.<\/p>\n
“It is an honor for us to be able to bring dignity back to lives of the people we serve as we help them move from crisis to self-sufficiency” said YWCA Northeast Indiana President and CEO, Debby Beckman. “We are thrilled to be able to invest in the Southeast side of Fort Wayne, and help foster a sense of community in the area.”<\/p>\n
To date, YWCA Northeast Indiana has raised nearly $2.8 million toward its goal and anticipates the project will be completed by mid-December of 2016.<\/p>\n
