Sponsors Needed to Honor Humanitarian<\/strong>
\nRed Cross honors Irene Walters as Humanitarian of the Year<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(March 22, 2016) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d On May 17, the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana will bestow one of its most prestigious awards upon a deserving citizen in our community. The Humanitarian of the Year award, presented annual by the Red Cross, recognizes an individual whose humanitarian contributions to our local community exemplify the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The award focuses on the foundation of these principles – Humanity. This year, Irene Walters will be honored.<\/p>\n

In honor of Irene, the Red Cross will host a luncheon at the Mirro Center for Research and Innovation on the campus of Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, with a special reception for our Gold and Major sponsors beginning at 11:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

Sponsorship of this event will help cover the cost of direct assistance provided to disaster clients including food, shelter, clothing and replacement of medications lost as a result of disaster. This revenue further helps facilitate the training of volunteers who respond to disasters and community preparedness education initiatives to attempt to reduce the incidence of emergencies.
