Officer Involved Shooting, 1600 block of Third Street<\/strong><\/p>\n

Date\/Time of Incident<\/strong>: 1\/09\/2016 at 10:38 a.m.<\/p>\n

Location of Incident<\/strong>: 1600 block of Third Street<\/p>\n

Victim<\/strong>: Adult Male (Good Condition)<\/p>\n

On Saturday, January 9, 2016, at approximately 10:38 AM officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the marathon gas station located at 422 Spring Street in reference to a stolen vehicle investigation. During the officers investigation, officers received additional information which led them to a residence located in the 1600 block of Third Street. As officers arrived at the residence, an officer observed a male exit the residence and run eastbound on Third Street. The officer verbally ordered the male to stop running as the officer began to pursue the male. While pursuing the male, the officer observed him to be armed with a handgun. <\/p>\n

The officer ordered the subject to drop the handgun as the subject refused to drop the weapon. At that time, the officer discharged his firearm striking the subject. The subject was treated by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital in good condition. The officer was uninjured during the incident.<\/p>\n

This incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
