Career Assistance, Hiring Event Planned for Veterans<\/strong><\/p>\n

(December 21, 2015) – WorkOne Northeast, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs, has scheduled a series of free, one-day career planning sessions for veterans that will culminate in a hiring event on January 29.<\/p>\n
The Operation Hire a Vet career planning sessions will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 7, 14, 21 and 28 at the WorkOne Northeast career center in Allen County, 201 E. Rudisill Blvd., Suite 102, Fort Wayne. The sessions will cover such topics such as resume development, interviewing with confidence, secrets of applications and identifying your skills.<\/p>\n
The hiring event will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (Hospital) Auditorium, 2121 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n
Any veteran who registers through their nearest WorkOne Northeast center is eligible to attend a training session. Participants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each session can handle up to 40 attendees.<\/p>\n
Veterans can also attend the subsequent hiring event, even if they don’t attend the training sessions. Deadline for veterans to sign up for the hiring event is January 21. Deadline for employers to sign up for the hiring event is January 15. Job candidates should bring resumes, wear appropriate attire, and be prepared to be interviewed.<\/p>\n
Operation Hire a Vet will be the first of many career planning and hiring events arranged for veterans in 2016 by Northeast Indiana Works and WorkOne Northeast. Four one-week career seminars will be conducted later in the year. In addition, the third annual Veterans 1st hiring and career development event will be held May 6 at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n
