Parkview Field set for a Busy Saturday<\/strong>
\nRelay For Life, Farmers Market, and Spring Trolley Shopping on Deck<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(May 11, 2015) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Parkview Field is home to a lot more than just the TinCaps. Each year, Minor League Baseball’s No. 1 Ballpark hosts more than 600 non-baseball events. This Saturday, May 16, is set to be a day that highlights the venue’s versatility. <\/p>\n

From noon to midnight on Saturday, Parkview Field will welcome hundreds of cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and teams of walkers from schools, businesses, places of worship, and more for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Fort Wayne. <\/p>\n

The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Relay For Life events are community events where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times and raises funds for the American Cancer Society in the months leading up to the event. <\/p>\n

Saturday’s Relay For Life Opening Ceremony will take place at noon. A celebratory lap for cancer survivors is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Then at 9:00 p.m. there will be a Luminaria Celebration when candles are lit in honor and memory of people from the area who have battled cancer.<\/p>\n

During Relay For Life, Parkview Field’s batting cages will be open from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The Shindigs FUN Zone will be open from 3:00-7:00 p.m. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Parkview Field’s Lincoln Financial Events Center will host the final indoor Fort Wayne Farmers Market of the season. <\/p>\n

Also on the 16th, The Orchard Team Store at Parkview Field will be open as part of the Downtown Improvement District’s Spring Trolley Shopping program between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Parkview Field’s stop is located at the corner of Ewing Street and Brackenridge Street. <\/p>\n

Already this season, Parkview Field hosted the Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series, which brought 24 area teams to play 12 games in April and early May.<\/p>\n

The TinCaps will be in Kentucky on Saturday to play the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays) at 8:05 p.m. Right now the team is in the midst of a homestand that continues on Monday at Parkview Field with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians). The TinCaps remain home through Thursday against Lake County.
