Automotive students work on GM engines<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(September 22, 2015) – Students enrolled in the FWCS Career Academy at Anthis automotive program have an opportunity this year to work on engines donated by General Motors. GM donated 10 Ecotec 1.8L, DOHC, 16-valve, inline 4-cylinder engines with variable valve timing (VVT) commonly found in today’s GM passenger cars. The smaller size engines are designed to have the power of larger engines while being fuel efficient. Students in the Engine Fundamentals Class and the Engine Performance Class will be working on the engines throughout the year to better understand how they work.<\/p>\n

“We appreciate the generosity of General Motors to provide our students with modern smaller engines to work on,” said Phil Rickard, automotive technology instructor. “It is our strong community partners like GM that give Career Academy students access to tools, equipment and other opportunities to become skilled workers ready for a career in the automotive industry.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
