{"id":55679,"date":"2014-02-07T14:00:05","date_gmt":"2014-02-07T19:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=55679"},"modified":"2014-02-07T14:00:05","modified_gmt":"2014-02-07T19:00:05","slug":"city-increasing-neighborhood-infrastructure-enhancements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2014\/02\/07\/city-increasing-neighborhood-infrastructure-enhancements\/","title":{"rendered":"City increasing neighborhood infrastructure enhancements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/City_of_Fort_Wayne_seal-200x200.jpg\" alt=\"City of Fort Wayne seal\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-50290\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>News release from the City of Fort Wayne:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>City demonstrates commitment to investing in the future with increase in neighborhood infrastructure enhancements<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>$30 million bond to be introduced at City Council meeting on Tuesday<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>(February 7, 2014) &#8211; Fort Wayne residents will see a record amount of neighborhood street, road, and sidewalk improvements beginning this spring. <\/p>\n<p>Mayor Tom Henry today announced the City Administration will introduce an ordinance to City Council on Tuesday, Feb. 11 that calls for a $30 million bond for infrastructure improvements in City neighborhoods. <\/p>\n<p>The bond, along with funding through the financial plan passed by City Council last June as part of the Fiscal Policy Group created by Mayor Henry that allows for pay-as-you-go funding for future projects, would allow the City to complete the backlog of street and road projects by the end of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The process to explore the option of an infrastructure bond was originally discussed with City Council last fall. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re demonstrating a strong commitment to investing in our future by allocating substantial funding to enhance our neighborhoods and meet the needs of the community,&#8221; said Mayor Henry. &#8220;We&#8217;re recognized as a leader in job growth, economic development, and quality of life.
