American Heart Association Announces 2015 Northeast Indiana Heart Walk Chairman<\/strong>
\nSt. Joseph Hospital CEO Kenneth Jones will lead the annual fundraising campaign<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(August 10, 2015) – Kenneth Jones, CEO of St. Joseph Hospital, will serve as volunteer executive chairman of the Northeast Indiana Heart Walk, which takes place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Ivy Tech Community College – North Campus.<\/p>\n

The event supports the Northeast Indiana region of the American Heart Association, whose mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. As part of his leadership, Jones will help the association raise over $150,000 to help fund heart disease and stroke research.<\/p>\n

“It is an honor to serve as the Heart Walk executive chairman. Our goal is to continue to raise awareness about heart disease and educate our community regarding the best way to prevent it,” said Jones. “The American Heart Association has played a central role in innovative research, development, and technologies; new legislation; youth education; and so many other worthwhile initiatives.”<\/p>\n

As Heart Walk chairman, Jones will oversee the sponsorship campaign and leadership team responsible for securing new sponsors and teams in support of the Heart Walk.<\/p>\n

“We are thrilled to have Kenneth Jones’ leadership as this year’s heart walk chairman,” said Teresa Royer, Heart Walk director. “With such a respected and knowledgeable chairman leading the way, we expect that local businesses and individuals will play close attention to the importance of addressing the real threat of cardiovascular disease in our community.”<\/p>\n

The Northeast Indiana Heart Walk is an opportunity for people to initiate changes in their health through walking, while raising funds to help prevent heart disease and stroke – America’s No. 1 and 5 killers. The annual event is a non-competitive, three-mile walk in which teams are created by employees from local companies, along with friends and family members of all ages.<\/p>\n

“At St. Joseph Hospital, we continue to encourage employees and their families to make better lifestyle choices that promote a healthy heart. This year’s heart walks signifies taking steps both literally and figuratively to raise awareness and institute change when it comes to matters of the heart. Efforts to prevent heart disease are most effective when an entire community comes together to support positive behaviors that lead to lasting results,” said Jones.<\/p>\n
