Neighborhood Health Clinics, Inc., Celebrates National Health Center Week with two Free Community Health Fairs<\/strong><\/p>\n

(August 4, 2015) – Neighborhood Health Clinics, Inc. Celebrates National Health Center Week 2015 with two Community Health Fairs:<\/p>\n
\n
- August 11th, 9 AM – 3 PM, at our Southeast location, 3350 East Paulding Road<\/li>\n
- August 13th, 9 AM – 3 PM, at our Downtown location, 1717 South Calhoun Street<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
National Health Center Week is August 9-15th. Neighborhood Health Clinics is proud to have served Allen County for 46 years. This week NHCI and health centers across the country celebrate serving communities with access to affordable, high quality, cost effective health care.<\/p>\n
Health Centers, a defining component of America’s health care system, were started 50 years ago as a pilot project during President Lyndon Johnson’s term. Today, they compile a significant record of success in the community which includes:<\/p>\n
\n
- Reducing health disparities nationwide, even in the most challenged communities<\/li>\n
- Reducing infant mortality rates<\/li>\n
- Producing $24 billion in annual health system savings<\/li>\n
- Reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to the ER.<\/li>\n
- Maintaining patient satisfaction levels of nearly 100 percent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Health centers nationwide serve as the health care home for over 23 million Americans. Locally in 2014, Neighborhood Health Clinics provided 30,760 medical visits, 14,478 dental visits, and each month approximately 13,000 pregnant\/postpartum women and children 0-5 benefit from Neighborhood Health Clinics’ WIC nutritional program in Allen, DeKalb, and Noble counties.<\/p>\n
Health centers are the trusted provider of choice for many families, whether they are insured or not. Evidence shows patients choose health centers because they are convenient, affordable, provide quality care and offer a range of services from a team of caring professionals.<\/p>\n

About Neighborhood Health Clinics<\/strong>
\nNeighborhood Health Clinics’ downtown and southeast offices are located in a federally designated Medically Underserved Area where few other medical and dental services are available. NHCI is controlled by a patient-majority board, so it is responsive to the needs of the community. This includes those who have barriers to medical\/dental care such as: low income, cultural or language barriers, no transportation, or may be uninsured. NHCI also assist those who are uninsured by offering free health insurance enrollment services.
