United Way Day of Caring Volunteers visit FWCS buildings<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(July 29, 2015) – More than 200 volunteers will clean, paint and spruce up the landscaping at 10 Fort Wayne Community Schools buildings Thursday, July 30, as part of United Way of Allen County’s annual Day of Caring.<\/p>\n

Ten businesses and community groups signed up to work at schools throughout the city from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to get the buildings in shape for the new school year, which begins Aug. 11.<\/p>\n

The friendships formed on Day of Caring often turn into long-term partnerships between the businesses and the schools, with employees returning to volunteer or help the schools in other ways throughout the school year.<\/p>\n

“Day of Caring is a day we look forward to every year,” FWCS Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson said. “The day not only provides our schools with some needed pampering, it also serves as an example of the caring community we have in Fort Wayne. We appreciate the people in our community who care enough to come out on hot, summer day to make someone else’s life a little brighter. Seeing the work at the end of the day really does give our students, staff and families a boost of positive energy as we start the new year.”<\/p>\n
