The selected consultant team must have qualifications in landscape architecture, engineering, architecture and urban\/graphic design. Proposals are due by 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. It&#8217;s anticipated a team will be selected by the end of October.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an important next step in creating a riverfront destination that will spur economic growth,&#8221; said Mayor Henry. &#8220;I continue to be encouraged by the excitement and momentum we&#8217;re experiencing in our City. Our community worked together to create a vision of a downtown riverfront with something for everyone. Now, it&#8217;s time to take action on that vision and develop the specific designs needed to build the promenade.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The final consultant team will take several steps in order to create the final construction and bid documents for the promenade and public space on the north and south sides of the St. Marys River between the Wells Street Bridge and Headwaters Park West. The final designs will be limited to an $8 million construction budget. <\/p>\n<p>In order to create the final documents, the consultant team will research and assess the plans developed by SWA Group, the consultants that created the final vision. The final consultant team will also be responsible for regulatory coordination and permitting with all local, state and federal agencies and will assist with the awarding of the construction contracts. In addition, the team will develop a timeline for the design process and eventual construction.<\/p>\n<p>The Riverfront Fort Wayne vision was developed through a process that included extensive community input from thousands of residents. The plan envisions a revitalized downtown riverfront offering opportunities to experience nature, recreation, shopping, dining and entertainment.
