DAYTON, Ohio (July 19, 2015) – The TinCaps rallied in the late innings on Sunday against the Dayton Dragons, nearly erasing a five-run deficit, but came up short, 5-4. <\/p>\n

Fort Wayne (14-10, 46-46) fell behind 5-0 after the first four innings. Starter Ernesto Montas (L, 9-6) allowed seven hits and for just the second time this season, walked more than two batters in a game (3). Shed Long had three hits, and drove in the run in the fourth frame to increase Dayton’s (12-12, 51-43) lead to five runs. <\/p>\n

The visitors were revived in the seventh inning. After Junior Morillo (W, 3-4) was lifted, Jose Ruiz, Henry Charles and Ruddy Giron began the frame with three straight singles against Brennan Bernardino. Franchy Cordero then doubled in two runs with a liner down the left-field line. Franmil Reyes followed with a run-scoring single and Luis Tejada followed with an RBI groundout. The TinCaps were within one run. <\/p>\n

Colby Blueberg then tossed a scoreless bottom of the seventh and eighth innings, striking out three, but Fort Wayne failed to rally further. Aaron Cressley also threw two scoreless innings before Blueberg. <\/p>\n

Fort Wayne gets one more crack at Dayton on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Thomas Dorminy (7-6, 3.90) starts for the TinCaps and faces Dragons starter Tyler Mahle (9-5, 2.71). <\/p>\n
