YWCA Northeast Indiana to host June Diversity Dialogue – White Privilege<\/strong><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
(June 22, 2015) – On Wednesday, June 24th at 12noon, YWCA Northeast Indiana will be hosting its monthly Diversity Dialogue at its 1610 Spy Run Avenue office in Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n
“Privilege exists when one group has something of value that is denied to others simply because of the groups they belong to, rather than because of anything they’ve done or failed to do. Access to privilege doesn’t determine one’s outcomes, but it is definitely an asset that makes it more likely that whatever talent, ability, and aspirations a person with privilege has will result in something positive for them.” ~Peggy McIntosh<\/p>\n
Join YWCA Northeast Indiana for this month’s Diversity Dialogue as we engage in an interactive conversation on White Privilege. The group discussion will focus on:<\/p>\n

- Overview & brief history of white privilege<\/li>\n
- Examples of white privilege and what it means today<\/li>\n
- We will view a video from Tim Wise<\/li>\n
- Provide resources for further exploration on topic of white privilege<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
(Tom Wise is an American anti-racism activist and writer. Since 1995, he has given speeches at over 600 college campuses across the U.S. He has trained teachers, corporate employees, non-profit organizations and law enforcement officers in methods for addressing and dismantling White racism in their institutions.)<\/p>\n
Come explore this topic with us as the 2015 Diversity Dialogue series continues on Wednesday, June 24th from 12noon to 1:30 pm at YWCA Northeast Indiana’s 1610 Spy Run Avenue office.
