Celebrating Neighborhood Improvements<\/strong>
\nPublic Works, Keeps us Moving<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(May 20, 2015) – For the second year in a row the Fort Wayne Public Works Division is investing a record amount of more than $20 million in our neighborhoods. It’s fitting that during this week’s National Public Works Week, the Public Works Division is moving forward with $9 million in improvements through the City Council and the Board of Public Works.<\/p>\n

Today, staff from the Public Works Division and City Utilities visited Weisser Park Elementary to share information about the City’s working fleet. Vehicles that plow snow, pick up leaves, repair water mains, improve stormwater runoff, replace the lighting elements in traffic signals, sweep streets and monitor parking violations provided hands-on learning for students at the school.<\/p>\n

The Fort Wayne Division of Public Works visits every neighborhood weekly, providing much needed services like trash and recycling collection, street and sidewalk repair and illuminating every street in the City.<\/p>\n

National Public Works Week celebrates the contributions of public works professionals, as well as the communities they serve throughout North America. The event recognizes the 28,000 public works professionals — from transportation, water, sewer, refuse collection and maintenance — who are vital to the success of their communities.<\/p>\n
