Bob Sanders among 4 Colts players coming to Oprah’s Big Give Fort Wayne Trails event<\/strong>
\nWill be special correspondents for the “Oprah’s Big Give” camera crew<\/em><\/p>\n

Defensive back Bob Sanders and three other Indianapolis Colts defensive players are scheduled to attend the Oprah’s Big Give Fort Wayne Trails community event Saturday afternoon at Headwaters Park.<\/p>\n

Joining Sanders will be Jeff Charleston, Brannon Condren and Melvin Bullitt. Sanders played with the 2007 Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n

The four will serve as special correspondents for the “Oprah’s Big Give” camera crew that will be here to film the event. The television show contacted the Colts asking for some players’ appearance for the community celebration.<\/p>\n

The players are expected to arrive at about 3 p.m. and join Coach Tony Dungy on stage at 4 p.m. for a special presentation with Mayor Tom Henry.<\/p>\n

The Colts’ mascot, Blue, will also be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne’s success in raising money may be featured on the “Oprah’s Big Give” finale April 20. The fund-raising total will be announced at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The free community celebration will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Headwaters Park in the Lincoln Pavilion. At 3 p.m. there will be a presentation featuring Mayor Henry, representatives from the governor’s office and the Indiana Department of Transportation, and local representatives of the various trails organizations.<\/p>\n

The Headwaters event will focus on health, safety, recreation and enjoyment of Fort Wayne and New Haven’s trail system. Attendees can enjoy free food, giveaways and prizes, live music from local band Teays Vein, and booths from local vendors. Participation in one of the morning events at the participating trails is not necessary to attend the Headwaters party.<\/p>\n

In March, “Oprah’s Big Give” selected ABC affiliate Indiana’s NewsCenter and the local non-profit Aboite New Trails for a donation of $10,000. The mission from “Oprah’s Big Give” to Aboite New Trails and Indiana’s NewsCenter was to find a way to grow the money into something larger.<\/p>\n

Aboite New Trails chose to split the Oprah’s Big Give funds with each partner trails organization to fund its own event Saturday, thus expanding the reach of the Oprah’s Big Give funding throughout Fort Wayne and New Haven. The partner organizations will keep the money raised from the individual fund-raising walks or rides to fund the expansion and maintenance of the trail network in Allen County.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
