Community Leaders Get to See Schools in Action<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(April 7, 2015) – Local business and community leaders will have an opportunity to learn more about the educational programs offered at Fort Wayne Community Schools during the Seeing is Believing Tour Thursday, April 9.<\/p>\n

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. and the Fort Wayne Area PTA Council partnered with the FWCS Board of School Trustees to provide a bus tour of the district with stops at two schools – Towles Intermediate School and Harrison Hill Elementary School. The leaders will board an Excursions Trailways bus at Indiana Tech at 9:45 a.m. and head to Towles where they will learn more about the Montessori program in grades 1-6 and the New Tech program in seventh and eighth grades. Guests will observe students in their classrooms and learn how the hands-on Montessori program blends with the project-based learning at New Tech.<\/p>\n

The tour’s second stop will be Harrison Hill Elementary, which had received a considerable amount of renovations as part of the facilities project approved by voters in 2012. Students will lead tours of the school and explain how they use project-based learning in their classes. Guests will also see how technology is used to enhance instruction and help students develop 21st century skills.<\/p>\n

“We are always happy to share what is going on in our buildings with the community,” FWCS Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson said. “We know that the best way to explain the dynamic learning that is happening in our classrooms each day is to allow people to see it first-hand. Seeing is Believing.”<\/p>\n
