United Way of Allen County Awarded More Than $600,000 in Grants from the Foellinger Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(March 5, 2015) – United Way of Allen County was awarded more than $600,000 in grants from the Foellinger Foundation Thursday, March 5. The Foundation was established in 1958 and provides grants to nonprofits that serve Allen County children and their families, especially organizations with additional focus on families that are at-risk or have financial obstacles.<\/p>\n

United Way was awarded two grants. The first was a one-time only grant for $400,000 to help off-set the previous year’s campaign shortfall and assist in maintaining the financial needs of United Way’s 34 Partner Agencies, 28 of which are grantees of the Foundation. The second grant of $200,000 is to be used to match new individuals who make Tocqueville Society contributions to United Way. The Tocqueville Society is comprised of community leaders who donate $10,000 or more annually to United Way.<\/p>\n

United Way will also receive an additional grant to support capacity building from the Foellinger Foundation and the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne. The grant will allow for an in-depth strategic planning process, scheduled to begin in mid-March, which will help further align the organization with the needs of Allen County and its residents.<\/p>\n

These grants look at both the short-term and long-term needs of our organization and ensure that critical programs in our community helping families and individuals continue,” said David Nicole, United Way of Allen County President and CEO. “They understand that it is only collectively, when we come together, that we are most effective.”<\/p>\n
