Changing Tides at the Botanical Conservatory<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Changing Tides” Winter Garden Exhibit<\/strong>
\nJanuary 10 – April 5<\/em>
\nThis winter, the Botanical Conservatory invites internationally-known artist Sayaka Ganz to create an imaginative seascape in the midst of our lush Showcase Garden using recycled materials. Discarded everyday items such as plastic forks, knives and bowls are reborn with new purpose and meaning as the artist transforms them into colorful and lifelike sculptures of jellyfish, kelp, dolphins and coral reef.<\/p>\n

Let the beauty of this ocean scene inspire you to do more than recycle waste items – consider their value and start upcycling. You can practice seeing the possibilities for yourself as you try your hand with “One Man’s Trash” in our hands-on Discovery Gallery.<\/p>\n

“Changing Tides” seeks to provide visitors with a moving, dramatic, aesthetic experience while also inspiring guests to make Reduce\/Reuse\/Recycle a part of their daily lives. The exhibit and affiliated workshops are sponsored by the Auer Foundation, Arts United, Artlink, City of Fort Wayne Solid Waste, Allen County Solid Waste, IPFW, the University of St. Francis School of Creative Arts, WAJI and WLDE.<\/p>\n

“Changing Tides” Art Opening – Free for Students!<\/strong>
\nThursday, January 29, 5-8 pm<\/em>
\nMeet local artist Sayaka Ganz and enjoy her colorful ocean-themed sculptures during a public reception in the Showcase Garden at the Botanical Conservatory. Ganz works almost exclusively with non-recyclable plastics that have been rescued from the waste stream, as a creative contribution to the health of our planet. Students will be admitted free with ID; all others: $5\/adult, $3\/age 3-17. Ages 2 and under free. For more information, call (260) 427-6440.<\/p>\n
