{"id":44658,"date":"2014-12-19T10:00:51","date_gmt":"2014-12-19T15:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=44658"},"modified":"2014-12-19T10:00:51","modified_gmt":"2014-12-19T15:00:51","slug":"belle-vista-bridge-opened-traffic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2014\/12\/19\/belle-vista-bridge-opened-traffic\/","title":{"rendered":"Belle Vista Bridge opened to traffic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/07\/Seal_of_Allen_County-207x200.jpg\" alt=\"Seal of Allen County\" width=\"207\" height=\"200\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-41693\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>News release from the Allen County Commissioners:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Belle Vista Bridge Opened to Traffic<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>New 81-foot span crosses Fairfield Ditch<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>(December 19, 2014) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Residents in the Belle Vista\/Allendale neighborhood of Fort Wayne have received an early Christmas present \u00e2\u20ac\u201d a new bridge designed and built with that area&#8217;s high water issues in mind.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allen County Commissioners joined residents this morning to cut the ribbon officially opening the Belle Vista Boulevard Bridge across the Fairfield Ditch.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You folks have been patiently waiting for this day, and now your patience has been rewarded with this wonderful new bridge,&#8221; Commissioner Linda Bloom told those who attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Construction of the new 81-foot span by Primco, Inc., took seven months at an estimated cost of $760,000 \u00e2\u20ac\u201d about $36,000 less than the engineer&#8217;s estimate.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the project, the elevation of the new bridge was raised by three feet in order to avoid flooding concerns voiced by residents.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge was built using 522 tons of asphalt, 55,000 pounds of steel, 490 cubic yards of concrete and 500 tons of stone.
